Minutes from meetings are available to download from the Documents Page, as well as other documents including our constitution and the Stromness Local Place Plan.

Stromness Community Development Trust was established in 2006. We work with statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and our residents to facilitate developments for the benefit of the community.

Following the successful temporary Development Officer post in 2017, SCDT were keen to use the momentum created to establish a Development Officer position for the town. In 2018 we began the process of sourcing funding for the position, together with a list of potential projects which was shared with the community. We held community consultation events, open to everyone, and provided an opportunity to find out about potential projects, ask questions and share views and ideas.

Funding was secured in early 2019 through the LEADER Programme and Orkney Island’s Council’s Economic Development. The position of Development Officer was filled in May 2019, since then SCDT has developed and delivered a variety of projects.
